Local Bookshops

69, Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness IV2 3PR, UK – 01463 233500

Decent sized branch of bookstore chain, located inside the Eastgate Shopping Centre. Range is pretty OK although can be frustrating if you are looking for something a bit more obscure. Staff are friendly, helpful and enthusiastic.

It was quite dirty for a start.I had hot choclate that was very nice. The service was ok over all three stats

Leakey's Bookshop

Church St, Inverness IV1 1EY, UK – 01463 239947

Leakey's Bookshop is definitely an experience. I love the atmosphere in here. I would recommend Leakey's as a sightseeing spot and for buying prints or gifts. I wouldn't come here in search of some reading though, the prices are pretty high and most books are more interesting in their material value than their textual content. As an avid reader, I would definitely visit Leakey's again, but not in search of my next favourite book, but rather for that one piece of my gorgeous classics collection that is missing. I'm rating 3 stars because I was disappointed to leave having bought no books during my visit.

Amazing place with good collections of engravings (bought a couple of them as Christmas presents which were really beautiful) and of course books... plenty of them. A little bit chaotic in regards of the organization of some of the topics, though. The place was a wee bit cold on the top floor (far from the fireplace). There are chairs and sofas upstairs so presumably you can sit on them to glance the books they've got. Honestly, if you don't control the time... you can easily spend hours in this bookshop!

A decent resource but books are laid out confusingly. Also prominently features books by some big names with questionable theological positions.
